1. Check-in

  1. Send us copies of your identity documents via email to confirm your booking.
  2. Pay the first month's rent to secure your stay — we'll share payment details on the group chat.
  3. Once confirmed, we'll coordinate with you directly to hand over the keys.

2. WiFi

Network: NM-Guest

Password: cambridgemaas followed immediately by the 5-letter word on the router label — one continuous string, no spaces, no hyphens, no numbers.

The router is in the living room cabinet; the word is on the label on its side.

3. On Arrival

We've left a few things around the apartment to get you started — no need to replenish any of it.

  1. Quarters — $5 in the bowl on the lampstand at the entrance (enough for one wash + one dry cycle)
  2. Laundry detergent pods — in the laundry basket in the main bedroom
  3. A few toilet rolls — under the bathroom sink cabinet
  4. 1 kitchen roll — in the kitchen
  5. Toiletries bag — in the bathroom

For everything else — dish soap and other consumables — please purchase and replenish as needed.

4. Shoes at the Door

  1. Please leave your shoes at the door. Cambridge is a dusty place — you'll notice how quickly the floor accumulates dust. Leave your shoes inside the apartment, right at the entrance.

5. No Smoking

  1. Absolutely no smoking of any substance in the house. Please.

6. Cleaning

6.1 General

  1. Please make it a point to keep the place clean.
  2. Broom and dustpan next to the fridge.
  3. Swiffer mop rod also next to the fridge — pads are in the pantry. Mop once a week. long stays only

6.2 Bathroom

  1. Toilet bowl and sink cleaner, rubber gloves, and a scrubber are all under the sink cabinet. Clean bowl and sink once a week. long stays only
  2. Please Swiffer the bathroom floor as well when you mop the rest of the house. long stays only
  3. The foot mats in the bathroom — please wash them once every 1–2 weeks. They tend to get fairly dirty. long stays only
  4. Shower drain: hair and hairballs collect in the drain over time. Please clear them out occasionally — the drain cover lifts out easily. Trash them in the bathroom bin.

6.3 Kitchen

  1. No garbage disposal: Do not wash food scraps or food residue down the drain — it will clog the pipes. Wipe plates clean into the trash bin before rinsing.
  2. Assorted rags: We use assorted rags for different purposes — wiping down countertops and stovetops, placing under the drying rack when drying dishes. They're in the top left drawer next to the kitchen sink.
  3. Dish scrubber and soap: Supplies are in the cabinet below the kitchen sink.
  4. Chain mail scrubber: For the cast iron pans, we use a chain mail scrubber to clean off grease. It hangs on a hook right on top of the orange recyclables bag — to the left of the sink when facing it.
  5. Kitchen table and stovetop: Please use the spray kept under the cabinet below the kitchen sink. Clean these surfaces periodically and do not allow food to crust.

7. Pantry & Condiments

  1. There's pasta, rice, lentils, cooking oil, and assorted spices and condiments on the counter, in the fridge, and in the freezer (e.g. frozen coconut, frozen curry leaves). Feel free to use modest amounts — please replenish if you go through a considerable amount.

8. What Stays Here

Think of it like Ross and Chandler at the hotel — except please don't do what they did. Everything in the apartment is yours to use freely during your stay; it just needs to still be here when you leave. Crockery, water bottles, cookware, condiments, kitchen tools — all of it lives here permanently.

Security Deposit

We charge a refundable security deposit, which covers situations like:

We'll always have a conversation before anything is deducted — no surprises.

9. Trash

  1. The large kitchen bin and the orange recyclables bag are to the left of the kitchen sink when facing it.
  2. The garbage bag for the kitchen bin is under the kitchen sink cabinet — look for Hefty medium trash bags.
  3. There are smaller bins in the guest room and bathroom. The garbage bags for these are under the bathroom sink cabinet — Simple Human size B bags. The blue trash bin in the living room is only for paper waste; please don't throw wet waste in it.
  4. The building's communal outdoor bins are cleared every Thursday by the city. Just drop your bags and recyclables into those bins — the ones closer to Broadway that you see when taking a left after exiting the building. You do not have to wheel them to the curbside — that's taken care of.

10. Mail & Deliveries

  1. The mailbox key is on top of the buzzer at the apartment entrance. The mailbox is by the communal bins near Broadway.
  2. Any mail addressed to us — please leave it untouched in the living room cabinet, next to the router.
  3. Amazon packages are generally placed outside the entrance to the building. Make sure you provide enough delivery instructions — otherwise they tend to leave packages at the entrance on Broadway.

11. Keys

  1. There's a spare set of keys in the bowl on the lampstand at the entrance — put them back after use.
  2. The building entrance door is auto-locking — you'll need your key to get back in.
  3. The apartment door does not auto-lock, so locking yourself out is unlikely. Just make sure to lock it manually when you leave.

12. Bedrooms

  1. The main bedroom has a queen bed.
  2. The guest room has a futon, which doubles as a comfortable bed for one person.
  3. The living room couch can be pulled out to laze around and catch a nap.
  4. The closet in the guest room contains our belongings — please do not access or use it. Use the free-standing closet in the main bedroom for your clothes.
  5. Spare sheets are in the open closet in the main bedroom — help yourself if you need a fresh set.

13. Laundry

  1. Washer and dryer are in the basement. After entering through the front door, take the door to the right (opposite the living room) — it leads to the rear of the building, where the basement door is.
  2. The washer costs $2.50 per wash. The dryer costs $2.00 per cycle. You will need quarters. The convenience store at the street corner or Whole Foods provides quarter-rolls for $10.
  3. Please arrange for your own washing pods.

14. Security Cameras

  1. Cameras at each of the two entrances — we have never accessed the footage. No cameras inside the house.

15. Checkout Checklist

Before you leave, please take a few minutes to go through these. The goal is to leave things roughly as you found them.

16. Contact & Emergencies

Please keep all communication in the group chat already started with us — that way we're both in the loop. Avoid direct messages so nothing slips through.

Locked out? Send a message in the group chat and we'll work it out.

Emergency? Call 911 first. Then let us know in the chat. There's a small first-aid box in the cabinet next to the WiFi router.
